Casa Roma Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio could be considered a classic international grape, but there are some areas – and Veneto is among them – where it expresses the best of its essence: freshness, aromas and harmony. Here, on the river Piave shores, Casa Roma produces this magnificent Pinot Grigio, also thanks to the gravel and clay soil. A white full of jasmine and magnolia flavours, surrounded by a well balanced palate that will bring you another breath, this time of pear and peach. Perfect with raw fish, shellfish and mussels.

Casa Roma

In the lands which at one time belonged to the ancient Papadopoli family from Crete, a winegrowing tradition has grown over the centuries, filled with a rich history that the generous lands of the Piave have nourished and man has nurtured over the years.

The Peruzzetto family is tied to these lands by a strong bond that has passed through the generations. As a result they have made this Casa Roma, the old country house bought from the fruits of much hard work and sacrifice, the centre and beginning of a new vision for local wine growing.

Luigi Peruzzetto is the man behind this renaissance. His bond to the land has driven him in his constant desire to bring out the true value of the most authentic resources and achieve some truly excellent results. This is above all true with Malanotte, his Raboso Piave, a native variety from the Province of Treviso – known locally as the Marca – which now boasts DOCG classification, and his Incrocio Manzoni Bianco. The aim is to distribute these local wines far and wide and so to produce international wines of the highest quality.

Casa Roma’s values are as much part of the land as the vines themselves and are cultivated with the same passion and respect for nature. These values are a love for tradition and a readiness to experiment, always mindful of the natural balance and ethics which have guided the lives of those who live and work in this land.

Behind everything Casa Roma does there is a clear objective: to make the wines from the Marca Trevigiana (the Province of Treviso) known across the world. This challenge requires safeguarding and developing the area’s native varieties and traditional wines, a journey that can only be possible if genuine ethics are applied to achieve true quality.

As a result of the sheer number and wide range of varieties found in the Piave area, here some of the most innovative production techniques are applied at the same time as the most traditional methods. All work done in the vineyard is governed by a protocol which dictates the use of products in line with biodynamic and biological cultivation methods.

In the winery specific winemaking techniques are adopted including the carefully studied use of stainless steel and wood. The woods used may be French oak or locally sourced chestnut or oak. For the drying phase, followed by soft pressing, sophisticated humidity, temperature and air movement control systems are employed. The production processes used for wines made using the classic method are also particularly interesting.
